Daniel John Wanish, 67, Catawba, died at his home on Saturday, June 11, 2016.

He was born in Catawba on October 2, 1948, the son of John and Mary (Rafko) Wanish.

He was a 1966 graduate of the Phillips High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology and Psychology. He later attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout where he earned his Master of School Counseling Degree.

He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed showing his love for family, friends, and neighbors through visiting, cooking, and gifts of homemade jams, jellies, and salsa. Last but not least, he always enjoyed a good game of cards.

He is survived by two daughters, Rosalyn (Joe) Ciepluch, Lannon, WI, and Casey Wanish, Denver, Colorado; and by one sister, June (Len) Gilbertson, Maiden Rock, WI; and by one sister-in-law, Laurie, Madison, WI; by nieces and nephews, and by many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers, Kerry Wanish and Robert Wanish.

Memorial services will be held at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Catawba at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 18, with Pastor Jody Becker officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
