Four of these Greenwood Community High School football players received berths on the 1962 Cloverbelt All-Conference 1st Offensive and Defensive Teams, and the other two received honorable mention. Standing are Tom Schneider, honorable mention; Terry McConnell, All-Conference offensive guard; Beill Turnquist, All-Conference defensive halfback. Kneeling are Coach Mike Friedman; Joe Bucheger, All-Conference offensive tackle; Stan Schwarze, All-Conference defensive end; Don Larson, honorable mention back.
In making the selections the Cloverbelt coaches rated the Greenwood boys as follows: Joe Bucheger as a fine blocker and devoted football player, the harder they hit the better he likes it; Terry McConnell, a good pulling guard who dies a good job pulling and blocking to the outside; Stan Schwarze, starter for the past three years and a good defensive end; Bill Turnquist, a fine defensive safety, sure tackler. All of the boy with the exception of Bill Turnquist are seniors.
