Smith, Lorraine M. (Hjertstedt) (19 AUG 1917 - 21 MAY 2016)

Lorraine M. Smith, age 98, of Owen passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Clark County Health and Rehab Center in Owen under the care of Hope Hospice.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Reverend Ronald Johnson will officiate.

Family and friends are welcome from 12:00 noon until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.

Lorraine was born on August 19, 1917, the daughter of Arthur and Agda (Anderson) Hjertstedt in Chicago, IL. Lorraine was united in marriage to Robert F. Smith Sr. on November 23, 1940 in Chicago at Saint Priscilla Catholic Church.

Lorraine graduated from high school in Chicago. She was the Director and Coordinator of the Owen Senior Center from 1978 until 1992.

Lorraine enjoyed sports, especially track and field. She was an avid Packer fan and loved to play cards. Her nick name was “Pee Wee.”

Lorraine is survived by her children: Robert (Mary) Smith of Green Bay, Bruce (Lorraine) Smith of Hoffman Estates, IL, Kathy Nesbitt of Wausau, Thomas (Sue) Smith of Tomah and David (Mary) Smith of Boyd, 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her twin sisters: Millie Crawford and Margaret Buck of Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert; her parents, and her siblings: Dorothy, Gladys, Fred, Nancy, Bernice, Richard, Gwendolyn and Audrey and a son-in-law; Ryan Nesbitt.
