Klein, Gwendolyn Jane (Marriage - 1 June 1974)

Miss Gwendolyn Jane Klein became the bride of Ronald E. Schmidt in ceremonies Satruday, June 1, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, north Spencer, with the Rev. David Ault and the Rev. Norbert E. King officiating. A reception was held at the Village Plaza, Spencer.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Klein, Spencer, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schmidt, Loyal.

The former Miss Klein chose a venise lace A-line bridal gown styled with a detachable train, sheer lace sleeves and a ruffled, lace-edged scoop neckline. Her lace-edged veil fell from a pearl-beaded pillbox headpiece of venise lace. She carried an arrangement of pink roses and stephanotis as she was presented in marriage by her parents.

Bridal attendants were Miss Donna Hardrath, Wausau, as maid of honor and Mrs. Karlene Krall of Granton, Mrs. Frank Oldham of Spence and Miss Carol Frank of Marshfield as bridesmaids. Daisy bouquets accented the honor attendant’s yellow dotted Swiss gown and the bridesmaids’ mint green dotted Swiss gowns.

The groom was attended by Eugene Schmidt, Loyal, as bestman and Jack Schmidt of Loyal, Robert Klein of Spencer and Dale Schmidt of Loyal as groomsmen. Jerry Schraeder, Wisconsin Rapids and Robert Schmidt, Loyal, served as ushers.

Danny Schraeder, Nekoosa, was the ring bearer and Kimberly Gropp, Spencer was the flower girl.

Soloist Mrs. Barbara Ault was accompanied by Mrs. Marsha Mertens on the organ.

The bride was honored at prenuptial showers given by Mrs. Eugene Schmidt, Mrs. Fredia Hoeser, Mrs. Frank Oldham and Mrs. Alice Walters on May 16 and by Miss Donna Hardrath, Mrs. Karlene Krall and Miss Carol Frank on May 19.

A 1970 graduate of Spencer High School and a 1971 graduate of Stevens Point Vocational and Technical Institute the new Mrs. Schmidt is employed as a licensed practical nurse in the intensive care unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Her husband, a 1965 graduate of Loyal High School, is engaged in farming.

The couple will live on Rt. 2 Spencer.
