McNeely, Keith (6 APR 1925 – 27 DEC 1970)

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 20, for Keith McNeely, 45, route 1, Spencer, who was fatally injured on Sunday, December 27, 1970, when his front-end loader was struck by a Soo Line freight train at the Clark St. crossing in Spencer.

Conducting the 2 p.m. service at the United Methodist Church were the Rev. Ralph Kooelemay and Pator Bernie Scott. Mrs. Norman Kasper sang “This is My Fahter’s World” and “Come Let Us Join Our Friends Above,” accompanied by Mrs. Darrel Roder at the organ. Pallbearers were Merlin Bolen, Norman Wachholz, Paul Burger, Russell Freeman, Warren Jacobitz and Gordon Gardner. Burial was made in the West Spencer Cemetery.

Mr. McNeely was born April 6, 1925 in Jump River, and received his education in Medford. He was married June 4, 1944, in Norman, Oklahoma, to Fay Dittrich.

He served in the Navy Air Force during World War II. After their marriage, the couple lived in Medford and Loyal before moving to Spencer. Mr. McNeely operated a mink ranch; owned and operated a sand and gravel pit, and was engaged in construction work.

Mr. McNeely was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Spencer Lions Club; and the Elks of Marshfield.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bryan, Stoughton; and Monte, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Allman, Medford; and Mrs. Bert Taylor, Stanley; a brother, Ray McNeely, Loyal; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.E. McNeely, Medford.

He was preceded in death by a sister.
