Oelrich, William #2 (16 AUG 1894 – 29 OCT 1970)

William Oelrich, 76, of Spencer, died at 10 p.m. Thursday evening, October 29, 1970 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Services were held Sunday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer, with Rev. William Ruhbusch, pastor, officiating. Pallbearers were Richard Huber, Duane Matter, Erland Schweke, Arnold Oelrich, Arthur Oestreich, and Elmer Oelrich. The congregation sang “A Pilgrim and a Stranger” and “Jerusalem, My Happy Home,” accompanied by Mr. Norbert Boock at the Organ. Burial was made in West Spencer Cemetery.

William Oelrich was born August 10, 1894 in Spencer, where he received his education. He was married November 17, 19 20, in Spencer to Sophie Huber, who preceded him in death in 1957. The couple operated a cheese factory for six years after their marriage, and then operated a farm near Spencer. He had been employed by the Soo Line until his retirement in 1959.

He was a veteran of World War I; a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church; and has served as treasurer of School District No. 7 for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Dorothy) Vanderhoof, and Mrs. Kenneth (Delores) Wilson, both of Spencer; six grandchildren; and three brothers, Frank, Fred, and George Oelrich, all of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
