Teresa Hall has been a patron of the Loyal Public Library over the past several years, so when its directors job opened recently, her interest was sparked. A short while and an interview with the library’s Board of Directors later, she is the new person in charge of providing access to books, periodicals and other information for the Loyal area.

Hall began her new position on Feb. 1, and succeeds Ellen Siverling, who resigned from the job recently after holding it since November 2014. A 15-year resident of Loyal, Hall has experience in the retail and service industries, and with the budgetary aspects of her now job as treasurer of the Trinity Lutheran Church’s women’s group.

Hall was hired recently by the Public Library Board, and will need to take classes over the next few years to earn her state of Wisconsin library licensure. Meanwhile, she will take over the library’s programs and resources and work with patrons during the library’s 35 open weekly hours.

Hall has been working with former library director Judy Bobrofsky to get familiar with the library’s operations. For now she plans to maintain all existing programs as she gets a feel for what the patrons want. Services such as the Wednesday children’s story hours will continue as they have in the past, and patrons will have the usual access to the library’s own resources as well as those of the inter-library loan system.

One thing Hall has her eye on for future improvements is the library’s public-use computers. One of her first goals will be to upgrade and expand those, Hall said. She also wants to make Loyal city residents more aware that the library will make deliveries to those folks who are home-bound.
