Washburn (23 May 1974)

Ernest Kissling recently built a new pole barn on his mother’s, Mrs. Harry Kissling’s farm.

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Carpenter of Ogden, Utah, and Bruce Bell of Janesville were luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short recently following the funeral of Miss Mildred Wallace of Minneapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter returned to Minneapolis to spend the weekend, and then planned to visit relatives at Appleton, Chilton, and Janesville before returning to Utah. They made the trip by plane, and then rented a car.

Bruce Bell returned to Janesville Sunday morning and was accompanied by his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short, who spent until Friday morning with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Don Stewart, and family in Verona. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Bell of Janesville spent Monday at the Stewart home and visited the Shorts. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart are building a new home on Lake Mendota in Madison, where their cottage was, which is nearing completion. They plan to move into it in a few weeks. Mrs. Stewart took her parents to DeForest Friday morning to the Allen Troemner home and they returned home with Elaine Short, who will spend this weekend and next week vacationing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Short, near Granton.

Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Feutz of Wisconsin Rapids took his mother, Mrs. Chris Feutz and son, Dennis, on a long ride recently. They drove to Viroqua, where they had dinner, then to Sabin, where Mrs. Feutz lived when a child, then to Boaz and Richland Center, the latter place is where she attended high school.

Mrs. L. Dunlap, Mrs. Helen Stubbs and Mrs. Margrette Thomson of Waterloo, Ia., visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Teter last week. They arrived Wednesday. Mrs. Dunlap and Mrs. Stubbs returned home Friday. Mrs. Thomson remained for a longer visit with her parents. Mrs. Stubbs was a neighbor of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kingsbury when they lived in Iowa before moving to the Cannonville area, and was surprised to hear they were in this neighborhood. Mrs. Kingsbury visited mrs. Stubbs at the Teter home Friday morning and renewed old acquaintances.

Brenda Urban, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Urban, spent a weekend with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Krause and daughter, Cheryl, of Menomonee Falls, and attended the water show in which Cheryl was one of the swimmers.

Mrs. Arnold Huth, Sr., has been a patient at Memorial Hospital since last week. She has been very ill.

Bible Study will not be held this week, but will be held next Thursday, May 30, at the Donald Lindow home near Chili.

Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart, sons, Wayne and Lee, and Mr. and Mrs. Kent Lonning, were recent dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dahnert. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reinart were Sunday evening visitors there.

Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Condron and sons of Schaumburg, Il., spent a weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr.

Misses Jean, Lorraine and Norma Lincoln of Minneapolis spent a weekend with their parents, Mr and Mrs. Albert Lincoln.

Mr. and Mrs. William Feutz and two neighbor ladies of Waunakee visited Thursday with his sister-in-law, Mrs. Chris Feutz.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kuhn and daughter of Wisconsin Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kuhn and Rick, Mr. and Mrs. John Trogner, Sr., and Mrs. Paul Kuhn ate dinner out and spent the afternoon with and were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kuhn.

Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams, Mrs. Chris Feutz visited Mrs. Art Williams at Memorial Home Tuesday.

Mrs. Harold Elmendorf and Carried Sexton spent the weekend in Gilman with relatives and attended the high school graduation of her nephew, Jeff Burtard, Friday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer, Mrs. Harry Kissling and Mrs. Neil Meddaugh attended a senior citizens meeting in Granton Tuesday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reinart and Mrs. George Allbaugh were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kalsow.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr., visited Mrs. Nettie Smock in Black River Falls Thursday.

Mrs. Merle Austin called on Mrs. Art Odell Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Dopp of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Urban and Mr. and Mrs. David Vine were recent guests of Mrs. Irving Stevens.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pretsch and family of Stratford were recent guests of his mother, Mrs. Wanda Pretsch. In the afternoon, Mrs. Pretsch, son Earl, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pretsch and family, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry King in honor of the confirmation of their daughter, Jean, at Calvary Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Elmer Kapfer called Friday at the Ralph Short home.
