Adamec, Anna (22 December 1913 - 15 January 2016)
Anna Adamec, 102, of Neillsville died Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at the Neillsville
Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Anna Adamec was born Dec. 22, 1913, in West Allis, the daughter of Frank and
Christine (Krivanek) Sojka. In 1916 she moved with her family to the Township of
Hiles in Wood County. She attended Scranton School. After she left school, she
was a housekeeper in Milwaukee and Chicago. She married Anton “Tony” Adamec Nov.
26, 1938, in Neillsville. They lived in the Township of Levis, where they raised
their family. In August 2003, she moved to the Neillsville Care and
Rehabilitation Center.
Anna was a member of the Western Fraternal life Association (WFLA) Lodge 303 and
Lodge 408. She was the secretary of Lodge 303 for many years.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, feeding birds, making Kolaches for
her family and doing word search puzzles.
She is survived by her children: Marian (Edward) Genteman of Neillsville and
John (K) Adamec of Albert Lea, MN, a daughter-in-law, Madeleine Adamec of Auburn
Hills, MI; 11 grandchildren: Amy (Thomas) Crissman Head, David Adamec, Lisa
(Oliver) O’Neill, Gary (Mary Jo) Genteman, Duane Genteman, Cherri (Brian) Hohnke,
Sheila Genteman, Kay Genteman, Sheri (Doug) Anderson, Sheli (Bob) Clift and Ron
Springborg; a granddaughter-in-law, Connie Adamec; 15 great-grandchildren; and
six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton “Tony” Adamec; a son, Anton W.
Adamec; a grandson, J. B. Adamec; sisters: Christine Venzke, Francis Sojka and
Barbara Tichy; and brothers: Frank Sojka, Wencil Sojka, and William Sojka.
Funeral services for Anna will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016 with
visitation one hour prior to the service at the Gesche Funeral Home in
Neillsville. Visitation was also held Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 8
p.m., at the Gesche Funeral Home. Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate.
Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Casket bearers are her grandsons: Gary Genteman, Duane Genteman, Brian Hohnke,
David Adamec, Thomas Head and Drew Adamec.
