Junior Kiwanian Dalton Durst (December - 2015)

December Junior Kiwanian

Dalton Durst

The Junior Kiwanian program of the Neillsville Kiwanis Club provides members an opportunity to see a diverse group of high-achieving, local high school students. While many of these individuals are actively engaged in numerous athletics and school-sponsored clubs and events throughout their four years, others have taken a different but equally ambitious and interesting path in their pursuits.

One such individual is the December Junior Kiwanian, Dalton Durst. He is the son of Chuck and Pam Durst and is a senior at Neillsville High School. He was introduced to club members by Kiwanian Herman Seebandt at the Dec. 14 meeting.

Durst is currently participating in forensics and is a four-year band member, achieving all-conference honors this year. In addition to these activities, he has attained the rank of Life Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and is a Brotherhood member of the Honor Society Order of the Arrow. He is active in the martial arts, achieving the Red Stripe level in Kyuki-Do.

Durst’s interests like in the field of technology, and he serves as an IT assistant for the school. Amateur model rocketry is a recent hobby of his. Additionally, he has built a 3-D printer from a kit and will be speaking to the Kiwanians about that project in a future meeting.

He plans to further his education in his area of interest and will be attending Chippewa Valley Technical College next fall to pursue a career in information technology.

The Junior Kiwanian program of the Neillsville Kiwanis Club gives recognition to outstanding senior students, while providing an introduction to the concept of a service organization and emphasizing active participation in the community throughout the lifespan. The club welcomes Dalton Durst, and looks forward to his participation in the December meetings.
