Two championships and three seconds in five years are in the record this year's football team must uphold. In his five years of coaching Greenwood football teams, Coach Cy Buker has piled up a record of 27 games won and 5 lost.

Cy Buker coached his fist Greenwood football team in 1952 and as he says, "It's one of the best football teams I ever coached." This championship team boasted such members as Dick Rondorf, Jim Ellingson, Jim Reineke, Jim Daines, Bernard Murphy, Jack Corey, Jerry Baird, and Louis Landini.

The 1953 team lost one game to Spencer, 19 – 13, to win second place in conference play.

The 1954 season was a tough one, but the team again came through with second place. That year they lost one game to Withee and tied two.

One close defeat, 7 – 6, administered by Abbotsford on Homecoming, was suffered by the team of 1955. With one lass and six wins Greenwood place second in the conference.

Spectators at the games in 1956 were again thrilled by a year of all wins. The highlight again was the game with Abbotsford, which Greenwood won 7 – 6. According to Coach Buker this was one of the best teams to represent G.H.S. at anytime.

This year students can expect to see another seies of exciting games. Whether the team of 1957 can uphold that record of 1956 is the question on everyone's mind.
