Jolivette, Burton Dale (Buck) (26 April 1930 - 13 November 2015) With Flag

Burton Dale “Buck” Jolivette, 85, a lifelong resident of Greenwood passed away at his home Friday, Nov. 13, 2015.

Buck was born April 26, 1930, in Greenwood to Lee Albert and Serina (Johnson) Jolivette. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, class of 1948. He served as a staff sergeant in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return from service, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Nov. 8, 1958, he married Betty M. Otis. Buck had a large number of jobs/careers. He worked for the Clark County Forest Department, Northern States Power Company and the Greenwood School District. He and Betty owned the Greenwood Shoe Store for 32 years, and over-lapping that he had a 27-year part-time/full-time job with the U. S. Postal Service as a mail carrier.

Buck was very active in his community. He served in many community organizations, including 50 years in the Greenwood/Owen Masonic Lodge #317F & AM, Lions Club, 53 years in the American Legion Wallis Hinker Post 238, Chamber of Commerce, Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department, Our Saviors Lutheran Church Council, Old Streets of Greenwood Museum Board, William “Doc” Olson Scholarship Board, and Betty and Buck were parade marshals for the Greenwood Dairy Days Parade.

Buck enjoyed league softball until he was in his mid 60s, deer hunting, casinos, cribbage, Rock Dam Dirty Club group, bowling league, golf, fishing, traveling and berry picking.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Betty; daughter, Laurie (Charles) Bouzek of Appleton; son, Larry (Teresa) of Eau Claire; daughter, Linda (Jeff) Schmitt of Greenwood; grandchildren: Katelin and Nicole Bouzek, Kirsten, Sarah and Adam Jolivette, Brandi (Matthew) Dux. Brianne (Bryce) Edmond and Logan Bottlemy; great-grandchildren: Emmalyn and Clara Dux, James “Jake” (Jolivette) Lange and Cierra Edmond; and sister-in-law, Alice (Norbert) Jolivette. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Reverend Norbert Jolivette; his sister, Elaine, and brother-in-law, Donald Schwan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Brian Campbell will officiate, and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery with military graveside service conducted by the Greenwood American Legion. Visitation was also held at the church Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight, Wausau or Ministry Home Care Hospice, Marshfield.
