Zickert, Frank H. (25 May 1897 - 12 April1974)

A former resident of the Town of Weston, Frank H. Zickert of Memorial Home, died April 12 at the age of 76. Funeral services were held Tuesday from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.

Frank H. Zickert, the son of Frank J. and Amelia (Schoenherr) Zickert, was born May 25, 1897, in Watertown and came to Clark County with his parent in 1901. He was educated in the Town of Weston schools and at St. John’s Lutheran School. As a young man he worked on his parents’ farm. His marriage to the former Bertha Quast took place November 17, 1920, at Globe. Mrs. Zickert died on July 25, 1971.

Following his marriage, Mr. Zickert took over the family farm, which he operated for 40 years before retiring in 1960 and moving to Neillsville. His son, Franklin, assumed operation of the farm. During his lifetime, Mr. Zickert also worked as a milk hauler for 28 years. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, was on the Uncle Sam School board for 10 years, on the Weston Town board for six years, on the Clark County soil conservation board for 15 years, and served as president of the Neillsville Shipping Association for 10 years.

Survivors include one son, Franklin Zickert of rural Neillsville; one daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Arlene) Heiman of Marshall; two sisters: Mrs. Ella Schlinkert of Mt. Horeb and Mrs. William (Hattie) Roehl of Neillsville; and nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
