Gonnering, Marlene Ann (30? DEC 1967)

The marriage of Miss Marlene Ann Gonnering and Sgt. Richard J. Gaffney took place in a 1 p.m. ceremony at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby, with the Rev. John Pinion officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gonnering, and Mr. Gaffney's parents are Clark County Judge and Mrs. Richard F. Gaffney, Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.).

Music during the ceremony was provided by the church choir. A Christmas motif was carried out in the church decorations, with red and white poinsettias decorating the altar.

The new bride selected an A-line gown of bonde silk. It featured a bande empire bodice and long fitted sleeves, with the focal point a white mink collar. The chapel length train was caught up by fabrice roses, and matching rosettes adorned the train, which was squared off. A three tiered veil of tulle was was attached to a mink circlet with a bow back.

Her bouquet was of red roses and stephanotis.

Mrs. Gerald Gonnering, a sister-in-law of the bride, served as matron of honor, and bridesmaids were two friends of the bride, Miss Marjean Fischer of Milwaukee and Miss Nancy Hendricks of Withee.

Patrick Gaffney was best man for his brother's wedding, and Leon Gonnering, Colby, a brother of the bride, and Bill Allen, Milwaukee, a friend of the groom, were groomsmen.

Ushering duties were performed by Dennis Gonnering, Colby, a brother of the bride, and Timothy Gaffney, Neillsville, a brother of the groom.

The bridal aides were in rouge velvet gowns in A-Line design with an empire bodice. The three-quarter length sleeves had cuffs of white fur, and headpieces were of fur circlets, touched with seed pearls. They had circular veils. They also carried white fur muffs with long stemmed red roses and greens on them.

A reception followed the church ceremony, and a supper was served at St. Mary's School Hall. There was also an evening reception at the home of the bride's parents.

The bride was employed as a clerk-typist at Consolidated Papers Inc. of Wis. Rapids. The groom is a Sergeant in the Air Force, and the couple will lived at Ft. Walden Beach, Fla., where he is stationed.

Guests attending the wedding came from Colby, Owen, Neillsville, Dorchester, Wis. Rapids, Madison, Biron, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis.
