Langfeldt, Herbert G. (28 DEC 1938 – 15 OCT 2015)

Herbert G. Langfeldt, 76, Loyal, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at his residence with his family lovingly surrounding him after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:30 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 19, at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Steven Brice officiated. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Justin and Jordan Lindner, Tyler Abel, Carter Koepsell and Michael Langfeldt.

Herbert George Langfeldt was born on Dec. 28, 1938, in Spokeville, the son of Max and Frances (nee Rueth) Langfeldt. He graduated from Loyal High School. Herb faithfully served his country in the United States Army National Guard until his honorable discharge. On July 1, 1961, Herb married Donna Jean Hansen at Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. From 1974-2000, Herb owned and operated Loyal Builders. Herb was very involved in the Loyal community. His memberships included: the Loyal Fire Department for 34 years and holding the position of fire chief for the last 11 years; a 3rd and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4963; a current member and past Commander of the American Legion Post 175 of Loyal; and an 18-year member of the Loyal School Board with the last five years as president. Herb was the chairman for the Loyal Corn Festival for many years, and was a charter member of the Loyal Lion’s Club and former president. Herb also served with the Loyal Rotary Club and was a former president, was a member of the Saint Anthony Catholic Church and served on the church council, and was a member of the Board of Directors for the The Highground veterans memorial park. Herb received Loyal’s Citizen of the Year award in 1988.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Langfeldt, Loyal; his children: Michael (Cheryl) Langfeldt of Crete, Neb., and their children, Paige, Michael, Megan (Jeff), Lyndsey and Brianna, Michelle (Doug Bond) Lindner of Neenah and her children, Justin, Jordan and Amber, Margie Reiter of Sheboygan Falls and her children, Tyler (Sarah), Hannah and Samantha (Josh), and Mandi (Jason) Koepsell of Appleton and their children, Avery and Carter; his great-grandchildren: Jaelyn, Paisley, Hendrix, Jordy, Camden and Cash; his siblings: Lois (Tom) Wirkus of La Crosse, Alan (Barb) Langfeldt of Loyal, Joann Oestreich of Loyal, Daniel (Karlene) Langfeldt of Surprise, Ariz., and Bonnie Bender of Beaver Dam; a brother-in-law, Norman Polasek of Green Bay; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Diane, in infancy, and a sister, Helen Polasek; two brothers, Robert Langfeldt and Steven Langfeldt; a sister-in-law, Darlene Langfeldt; and a brother-in-law, Donald Oestreich.
