Washburn (14 March 1974)

Francis Jacobson of Sherwood fell from a ladder at his home Wednesday when a rung on the ladder broke. He was taken to Memorial Hospital in Neillsville by ambulance, and later was taken to a Marshfield hospital. Latest report is that they couldn’t find any broken bones, but found a badly injured nerve in his back.

Mrs. Regina Prewitt was to entertain the Washburn homemakers club Wednesday, with dinner served at noon.

Mrs. Elmer Kapfer will entertain the Cannonville ladies Aid Wednesday, March 20, with dinner served at noon.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Dopp of Marshfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trachte, were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Irving Stevens. Mr. and Mrs. Trachte, Mrs. Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kurth and family and Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Boyer and son, were Sunday evening and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Abrahamson in honor of the third birthday of John, their son. Mr. Abrahamson’s parents and a brother and wife also were guests.

Bible Study was held at the Rev. Ralph Schram home Thursday night near Alma Center. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lincoln had their infant son dedicated at this meeting, also. Next meeting will be held at the Donald Lindow home tonight (Thursday).

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lincoln and son arrived Saturday from Shirley, Mass., and will visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lincoln, and her parents in Minnesota for a couple of weeks. Mr. Lincoln will leave Friday for Augsburg, Germany, where he will be stationed. Mrs. Lincoln and son will stay with their parents until he can make arrangements for his family to follow him.

Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams and son, Marvin, spent the weekend in West Bend with relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr., visited Tuesday at the Robert Wucki home.

Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr., went to Schaumburg, Ill., last week Saturday, where she will spend a few weeks with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Condron, and family and will care for their sons while Mrs. Condron undergoes major surgery. Mr. Havlicek and son, Donald and daughter Darla, took her to Mauston and were met there by Mrs. Condron and sons and Mr. and Mrs. William Prazak and her son, John McNeil. Mrs. Prazak is the former Delores Havlicek McNeil.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ehlert of Gilman were Thursday supper guests of her sister, Mrs. Harold Elmendorf.

Bruce Spiegel, Jr., who attends college in Wausau, spent last weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Spiegel, Sr.

Mrs. Elmer Kapfer attended the U. M. W. of the United Methodist Church, Granton at the Mrs. Verle Hales home Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Bud Elberts of Spirit Lake, Ia., arrived Wednesday to visit her mother, Mrs. Art Odell.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short visited Mr. and Mrs. Art Short Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lincoln and son called on Mrs. Art Odell Monday and again on Thursday.

Virginia Spiegel, who attends college, spent last weekend with her parents, Mr and Mrs. Robert Spiegel.
