Geiger, Elaine (Marriage - 31 December 1973)

A summer wedding trip has been planned by Mr. and Mrs. Gary Blasel, who exchanged marriage vows in a candlelight ceremony at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Dorchester December 31. A reception was held at the Dorchester Memorial Hall.

The new Mrs. Blasel, the former Elaine Geiger, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Geiger of Colby. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Blasel, Dorchester.

The newlyweds are both graduates of Colby High School. He is engaged in farming and truck driving.

In a candle light service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Dorchester, Gary Blasel claimed Elaine Geiger as his bride. Rev. Roland Goth witnessed the exchanged of wedding vows at 6:30 p.m., December 31, 1973).

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Mevlin Blasel, Dorchester and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Geiger, Route 1, Colby.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was Susan Reise, Unity. Bridesmaids were Debra Schmidt, Unity, and Sandy Light, Dorchester.

Best man was Dennis Geiger, Colby, and groomsmen were Larry Blasel and Lee Blasel, both of Dorchester.

The bride wore a white empire style gown featuring a high collard with lace trimming, the lace trim repeated on the sleeves and bodice. A satin ribbon covered with lace accented the waistline and a full skirt of chiffon over taffeta. She wore a Camelot style floor length veil of lace. Her bouquet was an arrangement of red roses, white carnations and lily of the valley.

The maid of honor wore a cranberry red velvet empire style gown featuring V-neckline, and cap sleeves. White lace accented the bottom of the floor length skirt. The bridesmaids wore forest green velvet gowns of the same styling. They carried red roses, white carnations and hollies with red and green ribbons.

The church was decorated with candles in the windows and candles and flowers at the altar, and Miss Ellen Schumacher was organist at the wedding ceremony.

A reception and dance were held at Dorchester Memorial Hall for approximately 250 guests.

The couple resides at Route 1, Dorchester, where the groom is engaged in farming and truck driving. The bride is engaged with farming with her father.
