The Rev. Emil Hodnik returned Friday afternoon from a two and one-half week trip. He was accompanied by his brother-in-law, Louis Schreiber of Toronto, Canada, and the Rev. Rudolph Urbic of Czestochowa. They went to Louisiana and Florida, and returned by way of the Great Smoky Mountains, visited Washington, D.C., and historic places in the area.

Mrs. Stella Hess and her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Kawczyski and four children returned to Milwaukee Friday after a stay with her mother, Mrs. Anna Nikolay, since Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. William Steinke and Mr. and Mrs. Art Steinke of Colby visited at the James Foster home at Hatfield Sunday.

Mrs. Carl Nelsen, Donald, Craig, Wayne and Carol returned to Seattle, Wash., Monday. They spent two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.F. Loucks, and brothers, Charles and Llewellyn Loucks, and their families, and with Mr. Nelsen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Nelsen, at Colby.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Loucks and Russell left Monday on a few days' vacation trip to Mackinac Bridge and around lake Superior.

Mrs. Helena Woempner, who underwent major surgery at Memorial Hospital of Taylor County, Medford, a week ago Monday morning, is reported as making good progress and is expected home, possible Wednesday or Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. David Thwing of Greenwood spent Sunday with his sister, Mrs. Ruth Stowe.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Everetts of Milwaukee visited at the M.C. Thompson home Thursday and Friday. John Thompson of Camarillo, Calif., spent Saturday afternoon with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Helding and Pamela of Rothschild came here to visit her uncle.

The Misses Vicki and Julie Stettler, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Stettler, were guests of honor at a surprise birthday party Saturday evening. Vicki is nine and Julie three, and their birthday anniversaries are a day apart. Guests were Victor Stettler and Mr. and Mrs. George Wieler and Eileen, Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Schaefer, Mr. and Mrs. George Rueden and family and Mr. and Mrs. John Pupp.

Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Heebner and her father, Adolph Schultz of Mequon, and his mother, Mrs. Wallace Heebner of Milwaukee came Saturday and stayed until Monday morning with Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bezak at their cottage at Mead Lake.

Bob Neidhold, Black River Falls, spent the weekend at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Neidhold.

Mrs. Fred Neidhold accompanied her nephew, Jon Neidhold, of Wis. Rapids, to Symco Sunday to attend the golden wedding anniversary celebration of Mr. and Mrs. John Fenske. Mrs. Eva Wolf of Chicago returned with them and will be here this week with relatives. Mrs. Wolf is a sister of Mrs. Fred Ridderbusch, John and Fred Neidhold.

Ralph Baxter Jr., son of Ralph Baxter of rural Dorchester, was inducted in the service July 17, and is undergoing basic training at Ft. Campbell, Ky. He is a graduate of the Abbotsford High School and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was employed at International Harvester, Chicago, since graduation last November.

Mrs. Hub Apfelbeck was dismissed from St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, Wednesday afternoon of last week. She was a medical patient there for a week and a half.

Mr. and Mrs. Jon Neidhold and family of Wis. Rapids are spending the week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Neidhold. On Tuesday they all went north to spend a couple of days at Boulder Junction and Eagle River.

Miss Suzanne Kelsey, the only Cadette of Abbotsford, and Miss Diane Beyerl of Colby were at Camp Birch Trails, north of Merrill. The Cadettes were in primitive camping and among other activities, took a canoe trip down the Wisconsin River. Mr. and Mrs. Rannow took the girls to camp and Mr. Beyerl brought them home.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Janda attended a class reunion of the Prentice High School at Club Florena, Medford, Saturday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fisher have returned from a vacation which they spent with the Heinz Fisher family, who recently moved from Kenosha to their present home at Bristol. They also visited Mrs. Fisher's sister, Mrs. Walter Churchill, at Chicago.

Mr. and Mrs. Roland Roth were on vacation last week. They spent part of it at their cottage at Sackett's Lake and in Michigan. Their daughter, Kathy, went with them from Monday to Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Sabol and family of Ithaca, Ill. visited their aunt, Mrs. E.C. Pascoe, Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bitter had as their guests at supper Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Seizener of Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Custer and daughters of Bloomer,, Miss Linda Palmer of Madison, and Jim Beyerl and daughter, Diane, of Colby.
