Nikolai, Mary (13 JUL 1968)

Mr. and Mrs. Steven G. Miller are now making their home at Colby.

The marriage of Miss Mary Nikolai, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nikolai, Colby, and Steven Miller, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Miller, took place at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby, Saturday, July 13. The Rev. John Olson officiated at the one o'clock nuptial mass for which the summer choir sang, with Mrs. Alois Gabriel as organist.

Attending the couple were Miss JoAnn Pflanzer and Dave Brehm, both of Colby, as honor attendants, Miss Sharon Staffeil of Colby, and three sisters of the groom, Mrs. Dennis Horvath, Miss Dorothy Miller and Miss Georgia Miller, all of Milwaukee, as bridesmaids. Richard and Mark Nikolai, brother of the bride, of Colby, Kirby Crosby of Milwaukee, brother of the groom, and Russell Reis, Colby, were groomsmen.

John Brill and Herman Weis of Colby performed the ushering duties.

For her wedding the bride was attired in a floor-length empire A-line gown of imported rayon organza over taffeta. The bodice was made of Alencon lace and appliques of the same lace detailed the front of the skirt and the detachable Watteau train. A forward crown of matching lace, seed pearls and crystals held the English illusion veil. She carried a bouquet of imported white Hawaiian flowers and red pompons.

Turquoise floor-length sleeveless cage gowns of georgette with bead trim around the neckline were chosen for the bridesmaids and yellow over peach gowns were worn by the junior bridesmaids. They wore matching headpieces and carried matching flowers combined with white daisies.

The mother of the bride had a corsage of red sweetheart roses and her grandmother was honored with a corsage of mixed daisie.

Festivities of the wedding included a reception and dinner at the Colby Hotel, and dance at the Abbotsford City Hall.

About 125 guests attended and came from Chicago, Milwaukee, Eau Claire, Wis. Rapids, Wausau, Chippewa Falls, Marshfield, Ringle, Cornell, Abbotsford, Colby and vicinity.

The bride is a 1966 graduate of the Colby High School and attended Taylor County Teachers College, Medford. Her husband is also a 1966 graduate of the Colby High School and is employed as a welder at Weyerhauser.
