Wald, Roberta Rae (20 APR 1968)

Two bouquets of mums were on the altar of St. Hedwig's Chapel, Thorp, for the marriage of Miss Roberta Rae Wald and Robert Anthony Butek on Saturday, April 20th, 1968. Father Ed Masalewicz performed the eleven a.m. double ring ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wald, Stanley, and Mr. and Mrs. William Butek, Thorp.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length bridal gown of silk organza over taffeta, fashioned with elbow length sleeves and a demure scoop neckline complementing the empire bodice. Appliques of Peau D' ange lace graced the bodice, the A-line skirt and the detachable train sweeping to chapel length. Pearls accented the petal forward cloche securing her bouffant veil of sheer illusion and she carried a bouquet of Amazon lilies and stephanotis.

Mrs. Jean Sakach was the matron of honor, wearing a floor length sheath of chiffon in pastel blue, highlighted by a Venice lace in blue over white empire bodice. Short sleeves and bateau neckline complemented the fitted bodice accented by drapes of chiffon at the shoulders. Loops of organza fashioned the cloche securing the bouffant bustle veil. She carried blue daisies to match her dress.

Judie and Shelly Wald, sisters of the bride, were bridesmaids, dressed identical to the matron of honor.

Diane Olejniczak was flower girl, wearing a floor length white taffeta gown styled with short sleeves and scoop neckline complementing the semi-raised waistline accented with appliques of lace. The same lace adorned the simi-bouffant skirt and the back panel. A blush veil fell from a feathery cluster of organza spears and she carried a miniature bouquet identical to the bride's.

Allan Hass served as ring bearer.

Bill Butek Jr. was best man, and groomsmen were: Jon Papierniak and Scot Rusch. Ushers were: Dennis Sakach and Silver Harycki.

A reception and luncheon for 225 guests was held at St. Hedwig's Hall. Diane Simenson and Mary Beth Eslinger cut the cake. Janice Swim was in charge of the guest book.

The bride's mother wore an aqua blue lace over taffeta dress with white accessories, and the groom's mother wore a light blue over taffeta dress with white accessories. Each was complemented by an orchid corsage.

The bride is a graduate of Stanley-Boyd High School and Eau Claire vocational, is a secretary with Elco Tool and Screw. The groom, a graduate of Thorp High School, is employed by Chrysler.

After a two week trip to Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Butek will make their home at 1303 East Ave., Belvidere, Ill.
