Washburn (22 November 1973)

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Piepenhagen of La Crosse visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Austin, last weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Rodman of East Troy, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hopfer and family and Dianne Kuhn of Milwaukee were weekend visitors at the Bernard Kuhn and Horace Rodman homes and visited Mr. Rodman, who is a patient at Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Oliver Williams will entertain the Cannonville Ladies Aid November 28, with dinner served at noon.

Sister Willa and a friend of La Crosse spent last weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kyle. They made the trip by bus to Merrillan, where her parents met them. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kyle and family were Saturday supper guests of his parents, also.

Bible study will be held at the Lyle Cary home Thursday evening November 29.

The Youth group was to meet at the George Gorbet home Wednesday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer, Mrs. Harry Kissling and Mrs. Neil Meddaugh attended the senior citizen’s meeting at Granton last week.

Mrs. Harold Elmendorf and granddaughter, Carrie Sexton, spent the weekend in Gilman visiting her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ehlert, sister, Mrs. Frank Herrmann and mother, Mrs. Magnus Romfoe. Saturday they accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ehlert and Mrs. Frank Herrmann to St. Paul and Minneapolis, where they visited Mrs. Ehlert’s son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Burtard and a daughter, Rachel Burtard. They returned home Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Aasen of Juneau called Monday at the Elmer Kapfer home. They had attended the wedding of Kay Schultz and spent the weekend with her brothers, Walter and Soren Larson and wives.

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kyle visited last week Sunday evening at the Merle Austin home.

George Kuehne and sons, Mike, Gary and Greg, Al Kuehne and son, Eric, and Bob Goerly, all of Janesville, spent from Friday evening until Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short for deer hunting.

Our streets and roads are lined with cars and red suited hunters this (Saturday) morning, the first day of deer season; but it is a little too early yet to report their luck.

Mrs. Robert Mortenson, Mrs. Ragner Mortenson, Mrs. Harry Hansen and Mrs. Wanda Pretsch were in Eau Claire Tuesday, where Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Ragner Mortenson consulted a doctor.

Mrs. Merle Austin called on Mrs. Art Odell Tuesday evening.

Wallace Krause of Menomonee Falls is spending the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Krause, and hunting deer.

Harry Teter called Monday at the Ralph Short home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schultz and sons, Richard, Alfred, Greg and Paul of Waterford spent the weekend in their trailer home for deer hunting.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reinart and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kissling are entertaining deer hunters this weekend.
