Rajek, Bertha (Friedrich) (3 APR 1918 - 11 JUN 2015)

Bertha Rajek, 97, Marathon died Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born April 3, 1918 in Germany, daughter of the late Herman and Bertha (Schoen) Friedrich. On June 28, 1939 she married Frank Rajek at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Edgar. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2004.

Bertha worked at Marathon Cheese and also at Rib River Ballroom. Some of her favorite pastimes included sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking and fishing. She was also a member of the Church Circle for many years and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Bob Rajek, Edgar, Hildegard (James) Kienbaum, Wausau, Ronald (Darlene) Rajek, Mosinee, Bill (Leanne) Rajek, Wausau, one daughter-in-law, Barbara Rajek, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a cousin, Gertie Hendler, Marshfield.

Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Rudy Rajek, one daughter-in-law, Ardell Rajek, three sisters and seven brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Edgar. The Rev. Gail Sowell will officiate. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday from Noon until the time of services all at the church.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Stoffel, the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and also Rev. Gail Sowell for the care and compassion they all shared with Bertha.
