Kobs, Kenneth Hugo (4 OCT 1927 - 7 AUG 2011)

Kenneth H. Kobs, age 83, of Marshfield, passed away unexpectedly in Marshfield on Sunday, August 7, 2011. Funeral services will held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Rev. Tricia Turner will officiate. A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until time of services Saturday at the church.

Ken was born October 4, 1927, the son of Hugo and Ella (Klessig) Kobs in Curtiss, WI. He graduated from Granton High School and served in the U. S. Army during WWII. Ken graduated with a B.S. degree in Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was united in marriage to Lucille “Dolly” Gottschalk on January 31, 1953 in Milwaukee. Ken worked in the engineering field before purchasing the Park Motel in Marshfield where he was owner/operator from 1962 until 1990.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, past-president of the Wisconsin Innkeepers Association, former member of the Marshfield Masonic Lodge #224, past-president of the Marshfield Lion’s Club and recognized with the prestigious Melvin Jones Service award, and member of the North Wood County Historical Society. Ken also like to read, especially history and autobiographies and was a fan of the Packers.

Ken is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucille “Dolly” Kobs, Marshfield, his children, Gary Kobs, Marshfield, Bruce (Brenda) Kobs, Chilton and Julie Hastreiter, Marshfield, six grandchildren, Andrea Hastreiter, Seattle, WA, Daniel Hastreiter, Sheboygan, William Hastreiter, St. Paul, MN, Nicholas Hastreiter, Marshfield, Kendra and Jonathon Kobs, both of Chilton. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Ella and a brother, John Kobs

In lieu of flowers and plants, Ken’s family would like memorials to be made to the North Wood County Historical Society or Faith Lutheran Church.
