Chili Locals (25 October 1973)

Mrs. Raymond Ott of Milwaukee spent a weekend recently with her mother, Mrs. Charles Stringer, and also visited her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stringer and son, of rural Granton.

Fremont Homemakers met for their October meeting with Mrs. William Schmitz. The club will meet next with Mrs. Manford Cain in Granton for an evening session.

Mr and Mrs. Everett Kauffman have returned home from a two-week trip to Canada where they visited a week with the Rev. and Mrs. Lloyd Robinson, missionaries on a Cree Indian reservation at Hobbema, Alberta, about 50 miles south of Edmonton. Enroute home on their 3,700 mile journey, the Kauffmans traveled through five Canadian provinces. They report that the weather was very pleasant and that many farmers are busy combining swathed grain, wet weather having hampered the harvest.

Forestside Homemakers are to meet October 31 at noon at the home of Mrs. Edward Barth.

A number of people from the area attended the wedding of Miss Sheila Meissner, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Meissner, Saturday in Milwaukee.

Dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kruse and son, Mark, of Lanesboro, Mn, were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Puscheck, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Puscheck, Mrs. Amanda Sanger, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Sanger, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Langrehr and Mrs. Elda Brooks.

Mrs. Charles Stringer entertained the Prayer group of Immanuel United Methodist Church at her home last Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Doehr and Daryl, together with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Gorkowski and son, Alan, of Clear Lake, Ia., spent the weekend at Viroqua. They toured the nearby area, saw tobacco curing in sheds and visited Wild Cat State Park. Enroute home, the Doehrs visited with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schmidtke at Union Center and with friends at New Lisbon.
