Henchen, Bruce Arnold (29 January 1954 - 22 April 2015) With Flag

Bruce Arnold Henchen, 61, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at his home in Stoddard.

He was born Jan. 29, 1954, in Neillsville to Leo and Gertrude (Klauer) Henchen. He graduated from Neillsville High School and also received an associated degree in electronics from Western Wisconsin Technical School in La Crosse. He married Robbin Stilwell July 6, 1974, at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Globe. Although they divorced in 2013, they maintained a close relationship enjoying family doings together such as birthday parties and cookie days.

He served in the U. S. Army as a military policeman with duty in Germany. He had worked as a deputy with the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department, worked as an electronics technician and also as a carpenter in construction. He retired in 2010.

Bruce enjoyed watching his grandchildren in sports activities, cruising on his Gold Wing cycles, playing board games and solving puzzles. His loyalty was also the the Brewers, Badgers and Vikings. Some of Bruce’s great enjoyments in life were playing Sheepshead and gathering maple syrup the Henchen relatives.

Bruce is survived by Robbin; two sons, Michael Henchen of Westby and Matthew Henchen of Westby; one sister, Carol Schaub of Neillsville; one brother, Charles (Sharon) Henchen of Chippewa Falls; his mother-in-law, Ardis Stilwell of Ferryville; two sisters-in-law, Aline (Steve) Trussoni of Waunakee and Judy Stilwell of Spring Valley; one brother-in-law, Ron (Amy) Stilwell of Stoddard; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother-in-law, Robert Stilwell; and his father-in-law, Layne Stilwell.

A funeral service was held Monday, April 27, 2015, with Pastor Jeff Coon officiating. Burial was in the Walnut Mound Cemetery, Retreat rural De Soto. Friends called at the funeral home Monday after 4 p.m.
