Martin, Emaline (12 JUL 1912 – 24 APR 1965)

Classes in the Owen-Withee school system were recessed at noon yesterday to enable faculty members and students an opportunity to attend the funeral services conducted for Miss Emaline Martin.

Miss Martin, a teacher at Withee and the O-W system for the past 23 years, began her duties at the start of the school term last fall, but shortly thereafter was forced to discontinue her work when hospitalized and treated for a lingering illness, which she succumbed to at 5:45 a.m., Saturday, April 24, 1965 at Luther Hospital at Eau Claire. She was 52 years and 9 months of age.

Services were conducted from St. John's Lutheran Church at Withee, with Rev. LeRoy Urman reading the burial service. Burial was made in the family lot at Riverside Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Myron Fritsch, Wendell Steiner, Alfred Hadelstat, Robert Jeske, Royalle Hamel, and Edgar Albert.

Born July 12, 1912 at Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), Miss Martin received her early education in the Withee school system and later attended the Marathon County Teachers College and the Teachers Colleges at Stevens Point and Eau Claire. Prior to being engaged in the teaching profession at Withee, she taught for five years at Rib Lake.

Mourning her long illness and untimely death are her father, A.R. Martin, Withee; four sisters, Isabelle Martin, Withee, Mrs. E.C. (Edna) Olds, Owen, Mrs. Harry (Alice) Gustafson and Mrs. Vic (Inez) Nielsen, Phillips; and a number of nephews and nieces.
