Langreck, Harold James (31 January 1922 - 5 March 2015)

Harold J. Langreck, 93, of Neillsville died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Harold James Langreck was born Jan. 31, 1922, in Neillsville, the son of Henry and Mary (Mueller) Langreck. He attended the Reed School in Grant Township and helped on the family farm. He also shoveled coal for Tibbett’s to earn extra money. He eventually purchased his own farm in the Town of Grant, just outside of Neillsville. He was united in marriage to Rosalie Hartung in January of 1949. They continued to farm and raise their 11 children. They farmed until 1992 and then sold the farm. Rosalie died in May of 1999 and in May of 2002 Harold married Dorothy Bagwell.

Harold was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed his hunting trips out west and his Canada fishing trips with his family. Later in life, he enjoyed going to the casinos. Most of all though, he enjoyed the family get-togethers in their backyard park.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 10 children: John (Shirley) Langreck, Donna York, Diane (Craig) Janicki, and James Langreck, all of Neillsville, Patrick (Vicki) Langreck of Marshfield, Dan (Brenda) Langreck, Dennis (Loriann) Langreck, Peter Langreck, Caroline (Larry) Kosmosky and Roger (Brenda) Langreck, all of Neillsville. Harold is further survived by 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Mary Ann) Langreck of Neillsville; and two sisters, Sister Lillia and Sister Niva, both of Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalie; a son, Gerald ‘Red’ Langreck; a granddaughter, Katie Langreck; a brother, Herbert; and two sisters, Dorothy Opelt and Marie Resong.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Harold was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. The celebrant was Rev. Varkey V. Joseph. Music was provided by Ronald Resong, organist, and St. Mary’s Choir. Interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 7:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary Service, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville and also from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Casketbearers were Jason Langreck, Justin Kosmosky, Kevin Langreck, Jonathon Langreck, Clinton Langreck, Seth Langreck and Dave Grottke.

Online condolences may be made at www.geschefh.com.  The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Harold’s family with funeral arrangements.
