West Eaton (8 Aug 1918)

Mr. Arch hauled cheese for the West Eaton Cheese Factory Friday.

Jason Bostwick cut hay for George Gemmeke Friday.

Mr. Cleveland and Mr. Drew are cutting hay near Willard this week.

Mrs. John Vidrich went to Willard Wednesday.

Mr. Thorson was out berrying one day last week and was overcome by the heat so as to be sick for a few days.

Mrs. H. Bostwick called on Mrs. Davey Friday evening.

Jason Bostwick is helping Joe Susa, Jr., with his haying for a few days.

Ben Stanley and wife, Leo and Lucille and Mrs. H. Bostwick returned home Saturday from Minnesota. They give a very interesting account of the trip. The wheat fields were yellow as gold and in good condition. One can hardly imagine a shortage of flour as one passes the beautiful fields of wheat. There are large fields of onions, containing several acres, and each farm had several acres of potatoes. Most of the oats and rye was cut and shocked. The crops in Minnesota are well advanced on account of the soil being sandy. A feeling of cheer and certainty that the winter will not be so very hard on the American people, for every farmer is doing his best. Later in the season Mr. Stanley and family and the Bostwick family may take a more extensive trip. This one was thoroughly enjoyed.
