Education for action was the theme for the 37th annual National Extension Homemakers Council meeting last week at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mi. Among the hundreds of representatives from 42 states and Puerto Rico were Miss Louise Keiner of Greenwood and her sister, Mrs. Frederick Gotz, and Mrs. Veronica Peters and Mrs. Harry Johnson of Pittsville.

The birthday of Mrs. Robert Stewart was celebrated at her home Sunday. Children and grandchildren present were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Decker and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stewart and family, Dr. and Mrs. Gary Rohde and sons of River Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Stewart and daughters, Shirley and Vicki, of Middleton. The Rohde and the Keith Stewart families spent the weekend with their parents.

Mrs. Edward Osburn has been dismissed from Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.

Miss Nellie Sharp returned to Glenwood City Wednesday after spending a few days at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clintsman.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Drew of Viroqua spent the weekend at the home of their sister-in-law, Mrs. Glen Drew.

Miss Louise Keiner visited her sister, Mrs. Frederick Gotz, in Pittsville, and was a Saturday dinner guest at the Bud Albrecht home. She also called at the Herman Albrecht home in Arpin.

Mr. and Mrs. George Stark attended the centennial at Arpin last Sunday.

Lt. Col. Tom Larson and children, Jennifer and Leif, have returned to San Antonio, Tex., after a two-week visit with Mrs. Don Warner and other relatives.

The Neighborhood club will be entertained with a supper meeting Friday at the home of Mrs. Hazel Helwig.

American Lutheran Church women will meet in our Savior’s Lutheran Church today (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m. Hostesses will be Mrs. David Danielson, Mrs. Ed Dergance and Mrs. Godfrey Dyre. The Esther Circle will be in charge of the program.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kurth and family of Wausau, and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Walker and daughter, Lynn of New Castle, Australia, were Monday dinner guests of Mrs. Kurth’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clintsman. Mrs. Kurth and Mrs. Walker have been pen pals since high school days.

The Wednesday afternoon Bridge club will meet at the home of Mrs. John Lindner.

Mr. and Mrs. Danny Drew and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Drew and family returned to West Allis Saturday after spending a week with their mother, Mrs. Glen Drew, and their sister, Mrs. James Turnquist, and family. Lori Drew remained for a longer visit at the Turnquist home.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ellingson and children, Laurie and Tom, of La Crosse, spent the weekend with their parents, Mrs. Louise Ellingson and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hohl.

Mr. and Mrs. George Stark attended the centennial at Arpin Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hinker and sons of Drexel, Pa., arrived last Monday for a two-week visit at the home of his mother, Mrs. Sylvester Hinker, and with other relatives in the area.

Mrs. Bud Albrecht of Arpin and her mother, Mrs. Frederick Gotz of Pittsville, visited Saturday afternoon at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson and Miss Louise Keiner.

Mr. and Mrs. George Stark visited relatives in Menomonie Thursday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sowieja and three sons visited relatives in Rhinelander Sunday. They were accompanied here by his mother, Mrs. Vincent Sowieja, who had spent five days in Rhinelander at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Pavlow.

The Birthday Club was entertained Monday evening by Mrs. Casper Lindner, with a 6:30 dinner at the café, followed by cards at the Lindner home. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Lawrence Cox, Mrs. John Lindner, Mrs. Joseph Gregorich and Mrs. Albert Neuenfeldt.

James Caliebe Sunday, returned to Minneapolis where he attends school, after spending the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Caliebe.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grabler and family of Greenfield and Miss Grace Caliebe of Skokie, Il., returned home Wednesday after a week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Caliebe and with their brother, Earl Caliebe and family.

James Thiede of Ames, Ia., was a dinner guest Saturday of his grandmother, Mrs. Effie, Swieso. He was enroute to St. Paul, where he attends college.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Landini and sons visited their uncle in Cresco, Ia., Sunday.

Mrs. Palmer Vinger and Mrs. Don Warner attended the Eastern Star Carnival at Chetek Wednesday.

Mr and Mrs. Fred Clintsman, accompanied their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Clintsman and family to Watertown, where they visited last weekend with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs. Willis Hohman.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hendrickson and daughters, Charlotte and Tracy, visited friends last week in Minong and Glenwood City, and at Downsville with the Rev. and Mrs. Arvid Myhrwold and family, former Greenwood residents.

Elmer Speich of Rockford, Il., was accompanied by his mother, Mrs. Jake Speich, and daughter, Violet, to Delevan Saturday, where they attended the Golden wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. William Lee, former Greenwood residents. They spent the weekend at the Elmer Speich home in Rockford.
