Washburn (16 August 1973)

Mrs. John Urban, Sr., Owen, formerly of this vicinity, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield Wednesday afternoon following another severe heart attack. Several from this vicinity attended the funeral at the Georgas Funeral Home in Neillsville Saturday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. William Rizner attended a Suiss Reunion of relatives of Mrs. Rizner’s mother the late Mrs. Rudolph Wahler, in Wisconsin Rapids Sunday. There were relatives from many states in attendance.

Mrs. William Tullis and son, George, of Waukesha, were dinner guests Tuesday of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short. They also visited her brother, Ralph Scholtz and son, Gene, in Sherwood, Tuesday evening. They spent a few days with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Scholtz. They also called on Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hamilton of Sherwood Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton left for Tennessee Tuesday, where they will reside. Their son-in-law came and helped them move and drove their car.

Judy Kelmos of Minneapolis visited Mrs. Albert Lincoln Monday.

Vicki Kissling returned home Thursday night from her trip to Houston, Tex., where she attended a Lutheran League convention.

Mrs. Harold Junchen, Myra Junchen and Mr. and Mrs. Sandy DeHart called Sunday at the Mrs. Art Odell home.

Mr and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill Milbreit Sunday in Pine Valley.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short called Wednesday evening at the Claude Kyle home.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kapfer of West Bend visited her mother, Mrs. William Poler, at Memorial Home Sunday and were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams.

Mrs. Art Odell was a Thursday supper guest of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Barth of Nekoosa at their cabin.

Mrs. Betty Kapfer and daughter, Mrs. Ed Kreuger, of Janesville, visited Mrs. Kapfer’s sister, Mrs. Ernest Kissling, Saturday and attended the wedding of Judy Gerhardt at United Methodist Church in Neillsville Saturday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Jake Wittenwyker of Monticello visited their cousin, Mr. Art Odell, Thursday.

Mrs. Frank Short has been a patient at Memorial Hospital since Wednesday night. Her daughter, Mrs. Al Birch of Bethesda, Md., and son Roger Short, and his wife of Milwaukee, arrived Friday to visit her and their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Short, for a few days.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hunt of Ironton called on her sister-in-law, Mrs. Harold Elmendorf, Thursday. They had visited relatives near Thorp for a few days.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Reinart called Sunday evening at the Ralph Short and John Reinart homes.

Mrs. Robert Mortenson, daughter Colleen, sons, Tom and Douglas, and Mrs. Wanda Pretsch, drove to West Bend Monday, taking Mrs. Mortenson’s grandchildren, Lisa and Ronny Wren, home after spending a couple weeks with their grandparents. Colleen remained for a longer visit with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ron (Buck) Wren and family.
