Urban, Nellie (12 September 1896 - 8 August 1973)

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for a former area woman, Mrs. John (Nellie) Urban, nee Zinski, 74, of Owen who died August 8 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

She was born September 12, 1898, in Lithuania. Mrs. Urban came to the United States at the age of 12 and was educated in Chicago, where she was married to John Urban on September 22, 1917. The couple came to Clark County in 1922. They farmed in the Town of Washburn from 1945 to 1961 then moved to a farm in Pine Valley where they resided until his death in 1966.

She is survived by three children, Mrs. Harold (Bertha) Ammentorp of Milwaukee, John Urban of rural Neillsville and Mrs. Glen (Milda) Swanson of Des Plaines, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Sophia Mills of Blue Island, Il.; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Richard Ammentorp, David Vine, Fred Voight, Dennis Scheerenberger, Jerrold Urban and Ed Miller. Miss Cheri Diers sand ‘Beyond the Sunset’ and ‘The Lord is My Shepherd.’ She was accompanied by Miss Linda Diers.

Among those attending the services were the following from out-of-town: Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ammentorp, Richard Ammentorp, and Mrs. Bonnie Drake, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Swanson, Des Plaines, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Miller, Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Urban, Warner Robins, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Voight, West Allis; Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Scheerenberger and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Ammentorp, Menomonee Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Ammentorp, Kenosha; Mr. and Mrs. Eric Felice, Marshfield.
