Podobnik, Johanna (24 JUN 1880 – 15 DEC 1947)

Mrs. Mike Podobnik passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, at 9:45 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, 1947. She was a patient at the hospital since December 5th, when she suffered a stroke.

Johanna Yurkovich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Yurkovich, was born in Ravnagora, Yugoslavia on June 24, 1880, and came to the United States in 1902.

In 1903 she was united in marriage to Mike Podobnik at Joliet, Ill. They resided there until 1914, when they came to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) and settled on a farm 5 miles southwest of Greenwood.

To this union were born eight children: August, Greenwood; Mrs. Joe (Eva) Bandos, Joliet, Ill.; Mike, Greenwood; Mrs. Arnold (Theresa) Meldensohn, Milwaukee; Gertrude, at home; Mrs. Don (Mary) Hatton, Greenwood; Emil, at home, and Mrs. Ernie (Mildred) Arch, Greenwood.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18. Rev. J. Novak will officiate and she will be laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery at Willard.
