Our school opened Monday with 22 pupils and Miss Angeline Perushek as teacher.
We were greatly amused at the quaint little pictures of boys and girls on their
way to school and the brightness of our room when we entered Monday morning.
We wish to thank Mr. Harold Lange, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schwamb and Mr. J. Bergant
for all the work done to beautify the school.
The language classes are learning poems.
Our teacher told a story of a little "nigger boy" to the first and second grades
and Oh! How they enjoyed it.
Mr. Jerome Stremikis brought us many new school supplies.
We held our meeting Monday and the following were elected: President , Eunice
Knops; Vice-President, Tony Perushek, and Secretary, Harold Sackett.
We learned two new songs this week: "Give Yourself a Pat on the Back" and "Our
School."
With such a large crowd we were able to organize two good ball teams and we're
at baseball "full swing."
For drawing class we each drew someone and guessed who was drawn. Harold seemed
to be the most popular.
Our sand-table is complete and we have on display, "Tarzan and Wild Animals of
Africa."
One morning Miss Perushek gave Ellis some pennies to get a new ball. When Ellis
came the next morning he was without the ball. When asked where it was he said,
"Gee, teacher I'm sorry, but I lost my sense."
These lines brightened our blackboard this week.
"I live for those who love me,
Whose hearts are brave and true,
For the heaven that smiles above me,
And the good that I can do."
