Educational Column
On Monday, Jan. 11, 1885, an examination for admission into the high school will
be held at the high school building. All applicants should come prepared with
pen, ink and paper.
No student will be admitted who fails to pass a satisfactory examination in the
following: Reading - Through the Fourth Reader; Spelling - The ordinary words of
the same; Writing - A fair, legible hand; Arithmetic - Fundamental rules, common
and decimal fractions; Geography - Through United States, with Geography of
Wisconsin; English Grammar - Etymology, and the general laws of Syntax.
The examination will be mainly in writing although a few oral questions will be
asked. A minimum standing of seventy-five percent will be required.
