News: Greenwood (Slot Machines Stolen – 07 Apr 1934)

Thieves early Saturday morning stole two slot machines from local taverns. The doors at the Enockson Tavern were pried open, where one machine was taken. The thieves then went to the Ketchpaw place where the doors were battered open and another machine taken.

Ralph Macknick, who was returning home at the time, saw the two men carrying a slot machine and get into a car and drive south. Police at Neillsville and Marshfield were warned to be on the lookout for the robbers, and later that morning Edwin Newman, 39, giving his residence as Green Bay, was apprehended by officers at Marshfield, when he and a companion sprang from their car when stopped by the policemen.

Newman was collared by the officers, but the other man made his escape. The two slot machines were found
