Seelow, Sarah (23 September 1897 - 11 July 1973)
Funeral services were held Saturday morning from the United Church of Christ for
Mrs. William (Sarah) Seelow of Neillsville who died July 11 at the age of 75.
The Rev. Gary Clark officiated and burial was made in the North Pine Valley
Cemetery. The Georgas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Sarah Seelow, the daughter of Robert L. and Ruth E. (Hoensel) Pedder, was born
September 23, 1897, at La Crosse. She grew up and was educated in Arcadia and
taught school there for a time. Her marriage to William Seelow took place June
16, 1921, in Minneapolis, Mn.
The Seelow’s came to the Neillsville area following their marriage and farmed
until 1954 when they moved into the city. Four years later, they moved to Cudahy
where she was employed at the Woolworth Store until 1965 when they retired and
returned to their home in Neillsville.
Mrs. Seelow was a member of the United Church of Christ, the American Legion
Auxiliary, the Women of the Moose, and the American Red Cross Volunteers (Grey
Ladies), of which she was serving as treasurer at the time of her death.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 10 children: Kenneth Seelow of
Milwaukee, Mrs. Ken (Lila) Burr of Chili, Mrs. Leon (June) Schnabel, Mrs. Herman
(Berdella) Carl, Russell Seelow and Frederick Seelow all of Neillsville, Mrs.
Larry (Celone) Zink of Cudahy, Mrs. Richard (Janet) Harrington of Milwaukee,
Mrs. Terry (Beverly) Snyder of Simpsonville, S.C., and William Seelow, Jr. of
Tucson, Az. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bryan Glass, Elroy Johnson, Carl Opelt, Soren Larsen, Joe
Resong and Art Dux. Mrs. Robert Peters was the soloist, and Mrs. Wayne Zoutendam,
the accompanist.
