Granton (12 July 1973)

The Granton Women’s Civic club is sponsoring a bake sale Friday beginning at 7 p.m. at the village hall. All donations of food and money will be appreciated. The sale is for the benefit of Samson Memorial Library.

The U.M.W. of the York Center United Methodist Church met Thursday at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Gene Carlson in Loyal. Mrs. Ora Benedict presented the topic.

Mr. and Mrs. Warren Anding and sons of Stewartville, MN, spent last Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Otto Anding.

Mrs. Robert Ashton of Coloma, Mi., has returned home after spending a week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Kauffman, in the Town of Fremont. The Kauffmans and Mrs. Ashton attended a wedding in Barrington, Il., recently.

Mrs. Myrtle Davis, Warren, Shirley and Jimmy and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kitzhaber and family of Greenwood had a picnic supper at Wildwood Park in Marshfield Sunday in observance of Mrs. Davis’ upcoming birthday. The Davis family visited recently in Cambridge with their former neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Korth.

Mrs. William Schmidtke accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Fred Summers of Spencer to Marinette Sunday where they visited her aunt, Mrs. Olive Knickel, who is a patient of a Home there, and Mrs. Knickel’s daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Art Rettke.

Saturday visitors at the Harold Bender home were Mr. and Mrs. Phil Haelen, of Chicago, Il., Mrs. Tom Strey and children of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Bender of Yakima, Wa., Mr. and Mrs. Russell Johanknecht of Waupaca and Mrs. Emil Henninger.

Roland Quicker returned home Saturday from a month’s visit in Washington. While there, he attended the June 22 wedding of a granddaughter, Dawn Gillard, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gillard of Auburn, and Dan Vesey. In addition to visiting with the Gillards, Mr. Quicker also visited with his son’s family in Sumner, and took a boat trip to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, where he toured the Butchhart gardens. Mr. Quicker, who flew to Washington, returned home with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Opelt of Neillsville, who also attended the Gillard-Vesey wedding. On Sunday, he was a dinner guests at the John Barth home.

Van L. Kayser entered Memorial Hospital again Friday after spending a week at home. The Kayser’s son, Alan
And his daughter, Mrs. Debbie McGovern and Tammy of Waterloo, visited at the Kayser home Tuesday.

Visitors recently at the William Lehmann home have been Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Dageforde of St. Paul, Mn, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lehmann and children, Donna and Eric, of Louisville, Ky., Dr. and Mrs. Elroy Lehmann of Chappaqua, N.Y., and Mr. and Mrs. Mel Smith and family of Appleton. The Jim Lehmanns are remaining until the end of the week.
