Neillsville News (19 November 2014)

JoAnn Wren was fortunate recently to be able to attend the send-off celebration for her granddaughter, Olivia, in Edgerton. The Edgerton High School Band and Chorus were chosen to participate in the Veteran’s Day Parade in New York City Nov. 11. This was a five-day trip with time for additional sightseeing. Five tour buses left the Edgerton High School escorted by the city of Edgerton fire and police departments. The Edgerton VFW Post Color Guard was also present. What an honor! We share in your pride, JoAnn.

The Granton/Chili senior citizens met for their Thanksgiving potluck lunch and meeting, last Thursday. The ice cream was furnished by Teresa Mallory. Pastor Doug and Sharon Bjerke entertained with a patriotic theme, singing songs to honor veterans from all wars and branches of service. Sharon read a few poems written by June Whitfield of Neillsville, honoring our veterans. The group sand along with many of the familiar songs, and all agreed it was one of the most enjoyable and touching meetings they had. The next meeting in scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 11, with potluck served at noon, at the Granton Community Center. Members are to bring an item for the Granton Food Pantry. A card was signed to send to member Hertha Sternitzky who fell and broke her hip last week. Millie Faber remains at the home of her daughter, Bonnie, in Rice Lake, recovering from her surgery.

Carrie Christie, Alene Lautenbach and Amber Pischer attended the wedding of James Marg and Heather Miller in Zimmerman, MN, Saturday, Nov. 15. James is the grandson of Rhoena Marg of Granton. The weather, in spite of a favorable forecast for Saturday, was horrific. Roads were extremely slippery, and visibility at times was almost zero. We were so very blessed to arrive at the church on time and to arrive home safely without an accident.
