Pat Lindner of Greenwood recently received a certificate from Who’s Who in America in honor of her listing in the Who’s Who in America 2023-2024 biographical record. Who’s Who recognizes individuals who “possess professional integrity, demonstrate outstanding achievement in their respective fields and have made innumerable contributions to society as a whole.”

Lindner has volunteered in several roles throughout her community. She is part of the Clark County Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Bureau, Branstiter “Old Streets of Greenwood” Museum Committee and Clark County Historical Society. As part of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, she has also helped with Greenwood’s End of Summer Fest. She is a member of St. Ann’s Society of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood, which coordinates the annual Harvest Sale and various other church activities.

Christmas will be in the air at Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford as they welcome Daniel Ball November 29 to kick off the festive season.

Ball is an accomplished singer who is launching his solo career and is formerly of the group “The Ball Brothers” who toured in over 30 countries worldwide. Ball has been in numerous TV and movies including “Sully” and “Pardoned by Grace.”

Ball will be singing holiday favorites and original songs starting at 7 p.m. which makes this a perfect evening for people of all ages.

Refreshments will be available during intermission. Tickets can be found at the church’s website at christlutheranabby.org. Ages five and under will be admitted for free.

Letto, Jo (7 Jun 1975)

Jo Letto and Randy Boardman were united in marriage June 7, 1975 at 3:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel by Rev. Kurt Reichardt.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Al Letto, West Allis and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Boardman, Thorp.

Sandy Letto was her sister’s maid of honor, with Teri Letto, sister of the bride, and Ruth Myers as bridesmaids.

Rich Boardman was his brother’s best man, with Jim Hahn and Tom Langham as groomsmen.

Dave Letto, Tim Hodkiewicz and Rick Letto ushered.

A reception and dinner were held at Bresina’s Country Villa.

Following a wedding trip to Glacier Park, Montana, the couple will make their home at 616 Broadway, Eau Claire.

Stroinski, Judy Marie (7 June 1975)

Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Nowicki were married June 7, 1975 during a 1:30 p.m. ceremony at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church, Lublin.

The Rev. Francis Zalewski of Mosinee performed the marriage rite, and the Rev. Stephen Krawiec of Lublin celebrated the Holy Mass for Judy Marie and Stephen Ray. Mrs. Nancy Bogumill was organist and Miss Candy Horn was soloist.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stroinski, Route 2, Thorp, and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Nowicki, 5003 Packer Drive, Wausau.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride was seen in a gown of silk organza and Chantilly lace with chapel length train. A sheer illusion chapel length veil fell from a Camelot headpiece, and she carried a cascade bouquet of yellow roses, white carnations, baby’s breath with a trail of ivy.

Miss Susan Kobylarczyk, Thorp, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Janet Herman and Miss Kathy Raabe, both of Marshfield, Mrs. Peggy Kunick, Eau Claire, and Teri Nowicki, Wausau. Jill Nowicki, Summit, Illinois, was flower girl. They wore floral crepe empire A-Line gowns of pink, blue, peach, green, yellow, and white respectively.

Louis Nowicki, Wausau, best man, was assisted by Dan Stroinski and All Stroinski, both of Thorp, Doug Kunick, Eau Claire, and Dennis Wojcik, Gillman, as groomsmen. Brian DeWitt, Wausau, was ring bearer. Roger DeWitt, Wausau and Ed Nowicki, Summit, Illinois, were ushers.

A reception and dance were held at St. Hedwig’s Quonset, Thorp.

The bride and groom are graduates of Thorp and Gilman High Schools, respectively. The bride graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Marshfield, in May, and is presently employed as a graduate nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Steve is an equipment serviceman for Bauernfiend Office Equipment.

The couple will reside at Fairview Drive, Marshfield.

Zdrojkowski, John (8 Dec 1888 - 16 Jun 1975)

John Zdrojkowski, 86, died Monday, June 16, 1975 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire of old age infirmities.

He was born December 8, 1888 in Poland, coming to the states in 1904, residing in the Thorp and Lublin areas. John was united in marriage to Magdalene Teclaw in 1911. She precedes him in death. In 1942 he was united in marriage to Sophia Statalowicz, who also preceded him in death. On September 23, 1957 he was united in marriage to Helen Krogman.

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Chapel on Thursday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. John Puerner and Rev. Edmond Klimek officiating. Interment was made in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were David Krogman, Jeff Krogman, Tom Krogman, Jim Howe, Mike Modorer (? Hard to read), and Dennis Krogman.

He is survived by his wife Helen; two sons, Clemence of Des Plaines, Illinois, and Chester of Rockford, Illinois; one stepson, Keith Krogman; one daughter, Mrs. Emily Zaborowski, Thorp; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Duane Thorson (? Hard to read), Mrs. Marian Howe (? Hard to read), and Mrs. Robert Moliter, all of Eau Claire, Mrs. Siley May, Alabama, Mrs. Barbara Daven port, Middleton; 43 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.; one brother, Stanley, of Chicago, and one sister, Bernice, in Poland.

Dean D. Haas, 404 Fenton Ave., Romeoville, age 53, died at Silver Cross Hospital Friday, June 13, 1975.

He was born in Thorp, Wisconsin, resided in Romeoville the past 14 years, previously living in Lyons and Chicago, Illinois. He was a member of the Good Shephard Church, Church Council Chairman of Church Finance Committee, Veteran of U.S. Army WW II (European Theater), Co-Owner of Bi-Link Metal Company, Elmhurst, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard; two sisters, Alice and Joyce Haas. Surviving is his wife Inez (nee Turenne); 2 daughters, Mrs. James (Karen) Machulis, of Crest Hill, Becky, at home; three sons, Rickey (Barbara) Haas of Bolingbrook, Dean Jr. and Timothy, at home; four grandchildren; his parents, Joseph and Anna Haas, two brothers, Melburn of Stanley and James of Waukegan; five sisters, Viluva (? Hard to read) Hanson of Spencer, Wisconsin, Mrs. Joseph (Ruth) Dupey of Spooner, Wisconsin, Mrs. Edward (Marian) Hull of Stanley, Mrs. Rudy Ciolkosz of Chippewa Falls and Mrs. Adolph (Patricia) Koltis of Thorp. He was uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral was on June 16, 1975 at the Good Shephard Church at 10 a.m. Interment was in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Slupski, Verna (22 Feb 1891 – 22 Jun 1975)

Mrs. Verna Slupski, 84, died in Victory Memorial Hospital Sunday morning, June 22, 1975.

Mrs. Slupski was born February 7, 1891 in Detroit, Michigan. She was reared there and married Thomas Slupski at Thorp, Wisconsin. They moved to Polley in 1971, and later moved to the Thorp area.

Mrs. Slupski was employed many years at the Blue Moon Cheese Company in Thorp, and later moved to Stanley in 1968.

She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Ladies’ Aid, Stanley Senior Citizens, the Polish National Alliance.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John Dulek of River Grove, Illinois, and Mrs. Albin Berdal of Montello; one brother, Joseph Strugala of Owen; two sisters, Mrs. Victoria Janiga of Green Bay, and Mrs. Katherine Burse of Thorp; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sophie and Helen.

Services were Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, with burial at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Thorp.

Mrs. Joseph Bastian has been appointed by the Clark County Red Cross Chapter, to be Executive Secretary of the Organization.

As Executive Secretary, she will administrate and coordinate the day to day activities of the Red Cross, such as Disaster Assistance, Aid to Military families, Water Safety, Nursing programs, and various other programs.
