Widmer, Alice B. (Cammers) (1 NOV 1917 - 9 OCT 2014)

Alice B. Widmer, 96, Holcombe, passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at the Golden Living Center - Three Oaks in Marshfield.

Alice was born Nov. 1, 1917, in the Town of Beaver, to Charles and Lena (Thielen) Cammers.

She was united in marriage to John Widmer Sept. 29, 1934. After the ceremony, they visited the Chicago World Fair.

Alice and John farmed in the Town of Unity for 25 years. They also owned taverns in Riplinger and Owen.

They moved to Holcombe in 1968. While living in Holcombe, Alice worked at the yarn factory in Ladysmith.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet Ammons and Judy (Roger) Kilty, both of Marshfield; son-in-law, William Marten, Holcombe; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia McGhee, Desert Hotsprings, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John on July 12, 1990; daughter, Arlene; brothers, Clarence, Earl and Edward Cammers; and son-in-law, Clifford Ammons.

Services were held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell, with the Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Holcombe Cemetery.

Visitation was from 1 p.m., until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital, AseraCare Hospice Services and the Golden Living Center - Three Oaks.
