Searls, Edna C. (26 February 1905 - 16 January 1973)

Funeral services for Miss Edna C. Searls, 67, a resident of Memorial Home who died there January 16, were held Friday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home. Officiating clergymen were the Rev. Coy Zumwalt of the First Baptist church, Reedsburg, and the Rev. William Humlie of Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Miss Searls, the daughter of James and Julia (Hanson) Searls, was born February 26, 1905, in Black River Falls and was educated there. She spent most of her lifetime at home doing housework for her parents. After their death she lived a various placed in the Granton and Neillsville areas before entering Memorial Home three years ago.

Surviving are six sisters, Mrs. Bertha Mattson of Cable, Mrs. Jerry (Leona) Grand of Milwaukee, Miss Minnie Searls of Neillsville, Mrs. Inger Free of Loyal, Mrs. William (Gladys) Seltrecht of Wisconsin Dells and Mrs. Herbert (Alice) Richert of Greenwood; and three brothers, George Searls of Reedsburg, Herbert Searls of Yakima, Wa., and Harold Searls of Granton.

Pallbearers were Donald Free, Mike Spuhler, LaVerne Spuhler, Robert Richert, Larry McLean and Ken Jacobchick.

A trio including Mrs. Norman Faber, Mrs. Vivian Votava and miss Connie Faber sang “How Great Thou Art,” ”Abide with me” and The Savior is Waiting.” Miss Janice Searls was the organist and also played two flute solos.

Those attending the services from out of town were Mrs. and Mrs. Jerry Grand, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Jacobchick and Mr. and Mrs. Laurence McLean, Milwaukee; Mrs. Inger Free, the Rev. William Humlie and Mrs. Alan Geiger, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Richert, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Buchholz and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Loberg, Christie; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Searls and Miss Janice Searls, Mr. and Mrs. George Hales, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Faber, Donald and Connie, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams, Mrs. Alice Kissling and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lavey, Granton; the Rev. And Mrs. L. L. McCormick and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Eppers, Chili; Mrs. Hazel Hirst and Mrs. Coy Zumwalt, Reedsburg; Mrs. Maynard Doudna and Mrs. Bertha Searls, Richland Center; and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas E. McLean and daughter, Neenah.
