Miss Elyse Hug of Wisconsin Rapids, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hug of Appleton, formerly of Abbotsford, and Pvt. Kurt Hoffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hoffman of Abbotsford, exchanged marriage promises during a nuptial high mass Saturday, Sept. 17, at St. Bernard’s Catholic church, Abbotsford. The Rev. Emil Hodnik officiated at the double ring ceremony and mass for which St. Bernard’s choir sang.

Vases of white gladioli and large yellow chrysanthemums graced the altar for the occasion.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a long sleeved street length white bridal dress of satin and lace with empire styling. Her shoulder length veil was attached to a small crown of seed pearls. She carried a cascade arrangement of two white orchids and stephanotis.

Witnesses to the marriage contract were the groom’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hoffman, of rural Dorchester.

For her maid of honor, the bride chose her friend, Miss Elaine Schade of Abbotsford, Kenneth Chapman of Wisconsin Rapids was best man, and Miss Lila Kiviko, also of Wisconsin Rapids, and Ted Hoffman of Milwaukee completed the wedding party.

For the ceremony, Miss Schade wore a street length lavender butcher linen suit and Miss Kiviko wore a turquoise knit suit, and both wore black chapel veils. Mrs. Hoffman was attired in a navy blue linen suit with a beige chapel veil. Corsages of white roses with yellow feathered carnations were worn by Mrs. Hoffman and Miss Kiviko and lavender feather carnations with white roses were combined for Miss Schade’s corsage.

For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Hug chose a gold ensemble with gold accessories. Mrs. Hoffman wore a navy blue ensemble. Both mothers had corsages of white orchids.

Following the ceremony, a reception for about 50 guests was held at the Colby Hotel and a 3:30 buffet supper was served. Miss Schade served the four-tier wedding cake decorated with pink roses and topped with a wedding bell and Mrs. Tom Hoffman was in charge of the guest book.

In the evening guests were received at the Tom Hoffman home.

The bride is a graduate of the Abbotsford high school of 1966 and was employed at Wisconsin Rapids. Her husband, a 1964 graduate of the Abbotsford high school attended Taylor county teachers college at Medford, and is presently undergoing basis training….. (incomplete)
