------ Svoboda, Janet L. (? JUN 1966)

Miss Janet L. Svoboda, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred A. Svoboda of route 2, Colby, was given in marriage by her father to Kenneth Lee Marschke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marschke of Rib Lake.  The ceremony took place during a 1:30 p.m. nuptial high mass at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Colby.

St. Mary’s summer choir sang for the occasion.

A color theme of blue and white was carried out in the white snowballs, gladiolus and blue carnations in the altar flowers, the cascade of blue and white daisies carried by the bride and the baskets of blue and white daisies carried by Miss Karen Marschke of Milwaukee, the maid of honor, and Miss Mary Ann Baumgart of Unity

The bride’s sheath gown was fashioned of white crepe with pearled Venice lace embellishing the neckline and empire waist.  The sleeves were elbow-length and a Watteau panel train graced the back.  Her headpiece was of organza upright leaves simulating an opening flow set amidst a silk illusion cloud.

Two shades of blue crepe were used in the attendants’ gowns.  The sheath skirts were made of light blue and dark blue was used in the empire bodices that had elbow-length sleeves and scooped necklines.  Floral pill boxes and circle veils completed the ensemble.

Robert A. Svoboda of Colby was best man and Les Magnuson of Ogema was groomsman.

Fred Marschke of Milwaukee and Ronald Baldeschwiler of Jim Falls performed the ushering duties.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Colby city hall and supper was served at St. Mary’s hall.

The bride is a 1966 graduate of Wisconsin state university, Stevens Point, and will be teaching second grade at G. D. Jones school in Wausau in the fall.  Her husband is employed at Hurd’s, Medford.

On their return from a honeymoon trip they will live at 1138 ½ S. 12th Ave., Wausau.
