Kalmon, Franklin "Frank" S. (21 SEP 1930 - 13 JUL 2014)

Franklin "Frank" S. Kalmon, 83, Stetsonville, died on Sunday, July 13 at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford, where he had resided the past two days.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford at a later date. Pallbearers are Larry Kloth, and Mike, Mark, Greg, Brad and George Kalmon.

Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

Franklin Kalmon was born on September 21, 1930 in the town of Hammel to the late Stephen Gabriel and Laura Ida (Larson) Kalmon. He attended Brookside Elementary School in the town of Hammel, was a graduate of Medford High School, Taylor County Normal School in Medford and received a degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On November 29, 1954 in Lublin, he married Margaret "Marge" M. Zagorski, who survives. They resided in Milwaukee and he worked at Allis Chalmers. He then taught elementary education in Pell Lake schools while residing in Lake Geneva. They moved to Medford where he taught school and was a principal in the Owen School District. During the summer months he worked concrete construction in the Thorp area. They farmed in the town of Holway and did area real estate work. During retirement he delivered parts for Northwest Trucks.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its singing group, "The Monks," Medford Knights of Columbus and Medford VFW Club. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, drawing, fishing, hunting, traveling, social talking, making chili and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five children, Mike (Edna) Kalmon of Georgia, Lynn (Larry) Kloth of Iowa, Mark Kalmon and Brad (Becky) Kalmon, both of Medford, and Greg (Lisa) Kalmon of Tennessee; six siblings, Elaine L. (George) Southworth, David (Laura) Kalmon, Patricia (Allen) Huber and George (Rita) Kalmon, all of Medford, Stephen Kalmon of Withee, and Jeffrey (Debra) Kalmon of Oakland, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Imy Kalmon of Washburn and Penny Kalmon of Hudson; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Allen and Dennis Kalmon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to Holy Rosary Church and School.
