Slusser, Roger Dale (17 JUL 1952 - 9 JUN 2014)

Roger Dale Slusser, 61, of Dorchester, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, at his residence in Dorchester.

Roger was born on July 17, 1952, in Hammond, Ind., to Kenneth G. and Erma J. (Allen) Slusser.

He attended Colby High School. After high school Roger enlisted in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge. Roger then worked at the Louisiana Pacific Lumber Mill in Goodman. In 1977 he moved back to the Owen area to help on his parent’s farm, and in 1980 he moved to Dorchester and worked at the lumber mill. He then moved back to the Owen area and worked at Colby Metals and Gottchalk Brothers, Inc. in Edgar as a welder. His last employment was working security for mink farms in the area.

Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, collecting guns and knives and telling stories.

He is survived by his daughter, Anna B. Slusser of Greenwood; sons, Kenneth R. Slusser of Owen, Michael Slusser of New London and Oak (Liz) Slusser of New London; siblings, Barb (Dennis) Richardson of Gary, Ind., Cheryl Lynn Slusser of Elk Mound, Laura (Travis) Jenks of Marshfield, Paula Burns of Medford and Larry Slusser of Manitowoc; seven grandchildren; 21 nieces and nephews; and best friend, Randy Butler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Glenn Slusser; and two sisters, Joan Clark and Theresa Slusser.

A celebration of life service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the Colby VFW clubhouse in Colby. Visitation was on Saturday from noon until the time of service at the clubhouse.
