Krych, Joseph (14 June 1920 - 30 May 2014)
Joseph Krych, 93, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away on Friday May 30, 2014, at
his residence.
Joseph was born in Thorp, WI on June 14, 1920, to Andrew and Agnes Krych. Joe
graduated from Thorp High School in 1933. He worked for General Electric and
Hotpoint before and after WWII for 25 years. He served four years in the US Army
Air Force, where he was stationed in Burtonwood, England. Joe had a successful
career as an entrepreneur and purchased the Duree Motel in Lawrenceville in
1976. He later renamed it Mr. K’s Motel, serving the Lawrence county community
for 28 years.
He is survived by three children: David Krych of Chester Springs, PA, Andrea
Krych of Redondo Beach CA, and Joseph Krych of Loda, IL. He is also survived by
one brother, Edmund Krych of Richfield, MN; and one sister, Dolores Jackowicz,
also of Richfield, MN; three grandchildren: Chandra Gardner of Flower Mound TX,
Seth Krych of Conshohocken, PA, and Rachel Watkins of Athens, GA; and four
great-grandchildren: Sidney and Landen Gardner, Anna Bella Wood, and Eli Krych.
He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph P. Krych; brothers and sisters:
Theresa Yurkowsky, Steven Krych, Ann Grzenia, Louise Sumiec, Katherine Panek,
Ceil Sokolski, Rose Panek, Frank Krych, and Lenard Krych.
A memorial service and holy Mass were held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on
Friday, June 6, 2014, followed by internment at Lawrenceville Cemetery. In lieu
of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made in memory of
Joseph Krych to the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation (AA&ADSIF)
or to Giveforward.com fundraiser for Chandra Gardner, granddaughter of Joseph
Krych, who suffers from severe Aplastic Anemia.
