Rahn, Virginia Rose (26 May 1916 - 2 January 2014)

Virginia Rose Rahn, 97, of Zephyrhills, FL, died January 2, 2014.

Virginia was born in Pine Valley May 25, 1916, to James and Rose (Pollnow) Milton. She graduated from Neillsville High School in 1933. She worked for several years as a secretary in the Neillsville Bank before her marriage to Henry E. Rahn Sept. 30, 1937.

After her marriage, Virginia continued to work part-time in the offices of Register of Deeds, County Clerk and Neillsville Shipping Association. She worked seven years as secretary in the Clark County Extension Office. From 1957 until her retirement in 1973, she worked as bookkeeper and secretary in the Neillsville Production Credit Association Office.

After her retirement, she and her husband spent winters in Zephyrhills, FL, where she moved after his death. Virginia was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. She was one time an active member of the Dorcas Society, serving as treasurer, and served for several years as treasurer of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting and playing cards.

Virginia is survived by her son, James L. Rahn, of Zephyrhills, FL; her sister, Gloria Svetlik, New Holstein; two granddaughters, Lynn (Bill) Greer, Gainesville, FL, and Sandra (Gordon) Hoeft, New Berlin; three great-granddaughters, Erin, Alexa and Emma; three great-grandsons, Josh, Shane and Noah; and one great-great-granddaughter, Daisy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Oct. 5, 1993; her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Lewis; and two sisters, Lucille Engstrom and Deloris Kasper.

Virginia was cremated at Whitfield Funeral Home, Zephyrhills, FL.
