Gabriel, Mary (Marriage - 30 October 1971)

Miss Mary Gabriel and Alvin E. Winchell were married Saturday, October 30, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby. The Rev. Francis Rushman officiated at the double-ring ceremony which united the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alois M. Gabriel, Colby, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Winchell, Rt. 1 Dorchester.

For the ceremony, the bride chose an eggshell sparkle-crepe gown fashioned with full, gathered sleeves, an empire waist and floor length skirt accented by a lavender velvet sash. Her only jewelry was her grandmother’s gold and pearl pendant necklace. She carried a spray bouquet of beige strawflowers and colored oat spears accented by a beige velvet bow as she was given in marriage by her father.

Miss Roxanne Seefeldt, Unity, friend of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Peggy Harris, Dorchester, friend of the bride, and Miss Theresa Morales, Chicago, Il., a cousin of the bride. Their gowns, styled identically to the bride’s, were in shades of lavender and purple sparkle-crepe. They carried nose-gays of Strawflowers and wheat tied with purple bows.

Sister Louise Marie played nuptial music and accompanied the children’s choir during the Nuptial Mass.

A reception for 150 guests was held at the Unity Memorial Hall, where a buffet supper was served.

The bride, a 1971 graduate of Colby High School, has been employed as an office receptionist in Abbotsford. Her husband, a Dorr-Abby High School graduate, is a veteran of four years service with the Marine Corps. He is presently employed in Dorchester.

The newlyweds will make their home in Dorchester upon their return from a wedding trip to Canada.
