Thwing, Elaine (12 SEP 1953)

On Saturday, Sept. 12, 1953, Miss Elaine Thwing, daughter of Myron Thwing, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Robert Crase, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Crase, Mineral Point, at a 1 p.m. service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The Rev. M.S. Egge, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony. During the ceremony Mrs. Everett Humke sang "O Perfect Love" and "The Lord's Prayer," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Don Warner.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of sheer silk lace over satin, which was fashioned with a Queen Ann collar and long sleeves that buttoned to points above the wrists. The skirt was styled with a peplum effect of two scalloped ruffles extending into a long train and her fingertip veil consisted of silk illusion. Her bouquet contained a white orchid surrounded by sprays of stephanotis and was tied with velvet ribbon.

Miss Arlene Thwing, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, wore a strapless gown of aqua net over taffeta, with a matching stole and a crown of matching net. Aqua ribbon formed the background for her bouquet of pink and yellow roses and white pompons.

Miss Avis Lunken, a friend of the bride, as bridesmaid, wore a gown of pink net over taffeta, styled the same as the maid of honor's, with matching crown and a similar bouquet.

Paul Crase, Mineral Point, brother of the groom, was best man, and Thomas Jensen, Mineral Point, acted as groomsman. The ushers were Delmar Thwing, brother of the bride, and Kenton Stewart, a friend.

At 4:30 p.m. the bride and groom greeted 100 guests at a reception in the church parlors. Later the young couple left for a trip through northern Wisconsin and Michigan.

The bride, a graduate of the Greenwood High School with the class of 1951, is assistant secretary-treasurer of the Badger State Credit Co. The groom is a graduate of the Belmont High School and Platteville State Teachers College and is now employed as veterans agriculture instructor in Greenwood. They are residing here.

Out of town guests came from Mineral Point, Rawey, Livingston, Madison, Janesville Abbotsford, Owen, Loyal, La Crosse and Stevens Point.
