Standiford, Vivian (10 AUG 1953)

On Wednesday, Aug. 10th, 1953, Miss Vivian Standiford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Standiford, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Robert Vesel, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Vesel, also of Greenwood, at a 9:30 a.m. nuptial mass read at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Father Edward Hartung officiated.

The bride was attired in a shimmering white satin and lace gown, the bodice of which was fashioned with a draped satin neckline, edged with wide Chantilly lace. Identical lace fell in cascades over the center sides of the skirt, which extended into a long train. A tiara of satin encrusted with seed pearls, held her lace trimmed imported illusion veil. She carried a bouquet of white carnations centered with red roses and tied with satin ribbon, from which were suspended streamers entwined with red roses.

Mrs. Eugene Sowieja, West Allis, sister of the groom, as maid of honor, wore a shrimp colored gown, the bodice of which was designed with a separate jacket of lace which tapered into a lace peplin falling over the frilly gathered. Net skirt. Matching petal clips and gauntlets completed her ensemble. She carried a bouquet of white carnations centered with shrimp colored carnations.

Miss Patricia Reitz, Friendship, cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid, wore a gown of bud green, which was styled the same as that of the maid of honor. Her bouquet was of white carnations centered with bud green carnations.

Eugene Sowieja, West Allis, brother-in-law of the groom, served as best man, while Richard Standiford, brother of the bride, was groomsman. Justin Standiford, another brother of the bride, and Bernard Vesel, brother of the groom, were ushers.

A wedding breakfast for the bridal party was served at the home of the groom's parents following the ceremony. A dinner and reception were held at the home of the bride's parents. A wedding dance was held in the evening at the Silver Dome.

The young couple will reside in Greenwood, where the groom is employed by the John Wuethrich Creamery Co. The bride is a teacher in the Owen Public School system.
